Conclusion

The exhibition has made me know a lot more things. The exhibition is coming soon and I can only hope for it to go well. Well, these are some things I have learnt in the process of preparing the exhibition.

CO2 affects a lot on Global Warming.

Indonesia produces so many Carbon Dioxide until it is the world’s third largest Carbon Dioxide producer.

Trees convert Carbon Dioxide into Oxygen in a process called photosynthesis.

Cars do not release a lot of Carbon Dioxide, they produce more Carbon Monoxide.

Cow farts contain Carbon Dioxide!

Carbon Dioxide affects us anywhere we go.

People who live near factories can feel shaking, there are a lot of smoke even floods every once in a while.

The Action

We are going to give people small trees for free. It is for the people to plant at home. The small trees include small pots. We are going to stick stickers on the pots which say: "I am saving the world… ‘coz I have a tree in my backyard". We haven’t known if Ibu Maytha agrees with that. We want to prepare 100 trees. We will buy small ones, but that still help our environment. Planting trees is a fun way to help our local environment.

In doing this action, we are facing a problem. Our problem is that we need budget to buy the trees, pots and make the stickers. It is estimated that we are going to spend a total of Rp.200,000.-. We hope this will be a good action, I also hope that by us doing this action people will be encouraged to plant more trees and will realize the importance of planting trees in order to save our local environment from too much CO2.

The Experiment

My group decided to make an unusual experiment. The experiment is useful too, because we will also get a lot of information. Our experiment will be shown in a movie. The movie will be a mixture of many small clips. The small clips were taken during our trip to the ‘Good Year’ factory in Bogor. We actually wanted to go to a factory in Citeureup but that was not possible. So, my group and I went to the ‘Good Year’ factory today (Saturday, May 12, 2007). We didn’t get in the factory and took videos inside because on Saturdays and Sundays, there are no staffs working there, it’s their holiday. So, we asked five people who live around there many things about the factory. We asked them their opinion. We asked them the effects of the factory towards them from the pollution that the factory produces such as, sickness caused by that and the effect of the pollution to where we live. We also asked other questions about what is happening around the ‘Good Year’ factory. They gave us many interesting information. We also found out a lot of new information. We were really glad to be able to do that trip.

My Journal

This journal will be changed once in a while, so it won't stay the same for a long time.

This is my journal for Monday, May 28, 2007

Tomorrow is the Exhibition

I am quite nervous about tomorrow. I am afraid that something will go wrong. If anything goes wrong, the exhibition won't go well and I want it to go well. I hope tomorrow will be a great day and we will all have great exhibition results.

My group and I are well prepared and ready for the exhibition. We are ready to present it to people. We just have to be calm, because we can forget things when we are nervous. We also have to be read to give satisfying answers to people's questions.

We have been interviewing other people, other than the five people near the 'Good Year' factory. Those people are from 'World Bank' and 'P.T. Gikoko'. It was a great interview. They gave us quite a lot of information about Carbon Dioxide.

Article Summary

This article is about air pollution. People think that air pollution is smog that has a bad effect to people but it does not increase other kinds of pollutions. People consider that air pollution and water pollutions are separate problems. The level of pollutions depends on the pollutant. Air pollution is not only man-made. Stationary and area sources of pollution are emission sources that don’t move. A mobile source is a source that is able to move with its own power. Agricultural sources are also another kind of source of pollution. There are also natural sources, which are sources not caused by people. Air pollutions have nitrogen, which have 4 effects. One of them is Acid Rain. There are also chemical contaminants in air pollution. They have 4 effects too and one of them is Bioaccumulation. Air pollutions also can move. We can help to reduce air pollution in many ways, such as turning off engines while we don’t have to use it. There are at least 17 ways to help reduce air pollution.

This is an example of air pollution caused by cars

My second Inquiry Into

My second inquiry is: How human activity changes the CO2 level. Human does things that cause more CO2. One of the things that human do is deforestation. Deforestation causes a lot of consequences. One of them is the carbon cycle. Forests store carbons because trees take CO2 from the atmosphere. Trees use it to produce the carbohydrates, fats, and proteins that make up the tree. When forests are cut down, and the trees are destroyed, the carbon they keep is released as CO2. If more trees are destroyed it means more CO2 are released back into the atmosphere. Deforestation happens because people want more space to make factories and other things.

Human activity also causes air pollution, and most of the air pollution is CO2. Air pollution is created by burning rubbish, smoke from the factory and also using cars that have many smoke coming out of it. There are not only air pollution, but also pollution in water and land. Sometimes people throw soda cans into the rivers. There are soda left on the cans, and that’s why the water is polluted. The water’s pH is changed by the CO2. If humans are not careful with what they are doing, they can bring bad luck to themselves in many ways.

The Performance

For the performance, my group and I will be playing a band. We will play the song called “I Just Wanna Live”. We want people to know that we want to live, not die because of CO2. We want them to know that too much CO2 will bring death. To make the performance related to our topic, we have to change some of the lyrics. By playing the band, we can show our talents in what musical instrument we can play. Our message can be clear because we don’t only play a band, we will also make a kind of short movie. We planned that the movie will include clips of things polluting the air such as, factories and cars with many smoke and also burning rubbish. Probably, by playing the band and showing the movie people will think about the environment and treat the environment better. For this performance, we need a bass guitar, an electric guitar and microphones.
